Theresa M. Paglio, 83: Employed at St. Elizabeth's for nearly 50 years

PORTLAND — Theresa Marie Paglio, 83, died Aug. 5 at Maine Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

On Aug. 12, 1925, she was born in Portland, a daughter of Sebastiano and Maria (Christofalo) Paglio.

She attended Portland schools and graduated from Cathedral High School.

In the 1940s, she was hired as a cook at St. Elizabeth's Orphanage, which later became St. Elizabeth's Child Care Center. When she retired from St. Elizabeth's in 1990, the Diocesan newspaper, "The Church World," wrote about her lifelong love and dedication to St. Elizabeth's.

She enjoyed travelling, especially when she visited Ireland during her only airline trip.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Joseph and Philip Paglio.

She is survived by her sister, Josephine Paglio of Portland; a niece, Marie Scinicariello and her husband Frank of New York, four nephews, Peter Michael and his wife Mary of South Portland, Richard and his wife Cathy of Portland, Leonard Paglio and his wife Janice of New York, and Joseph Paglio and his wife Karen of Portland, with whom she resided for many years; two grandnieces, Renata and Marie, and six grandnephews, Joey, her "little buddy," Philip, John, Anthony, Justin and Jason.

Memorial services were held last week.
