Firecrackers finish 11th at AAU nationals

Olivia Smith of Yarmouth gets the opening tip for the U-13 Firecrackers girls' basketball team in its pool play final versus the Kentucky state champions at the AAU national tournament in Ohio. The Firecrackers won, 52-49, and advanced to the championship pool, where they finished 11th out of 58 teams. The Firecrackers went 5-2, beating teams from Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, in addition to Kentucky. The team featured several local standouts and got clutch performances from Allie Clement, Sarah Clement, Ashley Briggs, Nina Davenport, Olivia Shaw, Olivia Smith, Bailey Cote, Samantha Frost, Brianne Maloney and Alisha Starbird.
