Falmouth announces first-day fall practice schedule

The first day of practice for the 2010 fall sports season at Falmouth High School is Monday, Aug. 16. Cross country meets at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Members must attend at least one session. Field hockey goes from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Football meets from 8 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Boys' soccer practices from 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Girls' soccer meets from 6:45 to 8:45 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Volleyball meets from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for all juniors and seniors. Freshmen and new players meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Sophomores should contact coach Powers to determine which session to attend. Golf meets Thursday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m., at the Woodlands. Yarmouth Junior Legion team ousted

The Yarmouth Post No. 91 Junior American Legion baseball team saw its season come to an end last week. In a quarterfinal round best-of-three series versus Gray-New Gloucester, Yarmouth won the first game, 11-2, dropped the second, 5-4, then won the series with a 7-3 triumph. Yarmouth then was eliminated, 4-1, by Windham.

SailMaine seeking coaches

Southern Maine Flame tryouts

The Southern Maine Flame ASA softball team will hold tryouts for its U-16 and U-18 squads Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 14 at 9 a.m., at Wainwright Field in South Portland. Casco Bay Sports announces fall offerings

Casco Bay Sports has openings for several fall sports leagues. Outdoor soccer has an 11 v 11 Sunday league, beginning Sept. 12 and a Monday 6 v 6 league, starting Sept. 20. Coed flag football starts Sept. 12. Coed frostbite softball begins Sept. 12. Basketball features a Tuesday competitive league, beginning Sept. 14, a Thursday all-ability league, starting Sept. 16 and a Sunday all-ability league, beginning Oct. 3. Greely football holding golf tournament

The first annual Cumberland/North Yarmouth Greely football golf tournament, with all proceeds benefiting the program, will be held Thursday, Aug. 12, at Toddy Brook in North Yarmouth. Cost is $100 per player or $400 per foursome. Players will have an opportunity to win a new Ford Mustang or Suzuki 4-wheeler with a hole-in-one. There will be other prizes and contests as well. Freeport Gridiron Club hosting road race

The Freeport Gridiron Club will host a Run With The Falcons 5K road race Sunday, Aug. 29, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Mast Landing School in Freeport.
