SUBHEAD-Hoffman-Johnson named All-American

Falmouth junior standout Gabe Hoffman-Johnson was named Maine's boys' All-American at the recent 35th Maine Soccer Coaches' All-Star Banquet. Hoffman-Johnson, a forward who was recently chosen Falmouth's Fall Male Athlete of the Year by The Forecaster, is Falmouth's sixth All-American in the past 11 years, joining Roger Levesque, Jeff Davis, Pat Halligan, Jimmy Velas and Jordan Hale. Hoffman-Johnson was also named the boys' Class B Player of the Year and to the All-New England team, along with Yarmouth senior Johnny Murphy. Falmouth's Sarah Girouard was named the girls' Class B Player of the Year. Yarmouth's Mike Hagerty was named the boys' Western Maine Coach of the Year. Hagerty is a New England Region I finalist for Coach of the Year in the boys' large school category. Falmouth's Deb LeBel won the girls' Western Maine Coach of the Year award.


SUBHEAD--McAuley Basketball Clinics

Coach Wil Smith will be joined by the McAuley basketball coaching staff for the following girls' basketball clinics being held Saturday at Catherine McAuley High School: Clinic for grades 7-8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., grades 4-6 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $20.

SUBHEAD-Boys and girls' youth lacrosse winter sessions upcoming

Maine Elite Youth Lacrosse is offering winter programming for boys and girls in grades 2 through 8. The sessions feature a balance of competitive game play and instruction. A girls' winter session goes Saturday nights through Jan. 3 with grades 2 through 5 going from 6 to 7 p.m. and grades 6 through 8 playing from 8 to 9 p.m. The first boys' winter session runs the same nights from 6 to 8 p.m. A second boys' session runs Sunday mornings from Jan. 18 through March 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

SUBHEAD-YourSpace hosting pickup lacrosse

YourSpace, formerly Gorham Sports Center in Gorham, is hosting middle and high school pickup lacrosse on Wednesday afternoons. Girls play from 4 to 5 p.m. Boys go from 5 to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per hour. A five-week league will begin Feb. 25.
