FHS note card sale
to benefit Haiti

FALMOUTH — A sale of note cards inspired by Haitian art will be on sale Saturday, March 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Falmouth Shaw's Supermarket.

The note cards were created by Falmouth High School students and will be sold by members of the school's Key Club.

Proceeds of all sales will go to relief efforts in Haiti.

The suggested donation is $10 per card. So far, the sales of note cards has raised more than $2,000 for the nonprofit, Help for Haiti.

Area students featured
in Portland Museum of Art

PORTLAND —  In celebration of National Youth Art Month in March, the Portland Museum of Art, in collaboration with the Maine Art Education Association, has organized an exhibition of artwork created by Maine art students.

The Museum’s exhibition, on view now through April 4, showcases more than 100 works of art by students throughout the state, from elementary school through high school.

An exhibition celebration will be held at the Museum on Saturday, March 6, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to the public and refreshments will be served.

The following area students will be featured in the exhibition:

Carter Lawless of Drowne Road School in Cumberland; Emma Jordan of Friends School of Portland in Falmouth; Sydney Shepard of Memorial School in North Yarmouth; Briana Bellefleur of Mast Landing School in Freeport; Vivian Deng of Morse Street School in Freeport; Emily Jennings of Freeport Middle School; Sean Cahill of Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth; Maggie Murray of William H. Rowe School in Yarmouth; Catie O’Toole and Emma Tureff of Yarmouth High School; Eliza Waterman of Yarmouth Elementary School.

Sturtevant earns
Principal's Award

FREEPORT — Joshua T. Sturtevant of Freeport, a senior at Freeport High School, was selected to receive the 2010 Principal's Award.

The award is sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, and is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
