Greely Ski Swap
& Sale upcoming

CUMBERLAND — The Greely High School Ski Team is holding its annual Greely Ski Swap & Sale Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greely High School.

Individuals interested in consigning new or gently used equipment can drop off items including alpine and nordic skis, boots, poles, apparel, helmets, skates and snowboards between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 at the high school.

Yarmouth High hosts
financial aid night

YARMOUTH — The annual Financial Aid Night hosted by Yarmouth High School will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, in the Yarmouth Performing Arts Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Director of Student Aid from Bowdoin College will review and discuss the 2011-2012 national Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA.

While the program is geared towards parents and students of seniors, it is free and open to the public.


Falmouth High
Debate Team update

FALMOUTH — Falmouth High School joined 20 schools from around the state to compete in the Edward Little All Events Tournament last month.

Overall, Falmouth took third place in the Debate Sweepstakes.

Individual award winners include Nate Wolf and Rory Nagem, first place, Public Forum, debating whether an Islamic Cultural Center should be built near the World Trade Center site; Emma Sapat, first place JV, Lincoln Douglas Debate; Mike LaFond, second place JV, Lincoln Douglas Debate; Chris Coughlin, fourth place Novice LD, debating whether the abuse of illegal drugs ought to be treated as a matter of public health, not criminal justice; Molly Paris made it to final round and took third place in the Novice Poetry and Novice Prose category.

Upcoming team competitions will be held on Jan. 8 at Deering High School; Jan. 15 at Cheverus; Jan. 22 at Greely High School; and on Jan. 29 the State Championship will be held in Brunswick.

Volunteer judges are needed at all tournaments.
