David R. Snow, 77: Known for helping others, worked for Red Cross

FALMOUTH — David Roger Snow, 77, died Aug. 16 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

On April 4, 1933, he was born in Winchester, Mass., and attended local schools.

After graduating from high school in 1951, he attended Boston University, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1957, and his master's degree in education in 1959.

He also served for four years in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in the Philippines.

In 1958 he married his wife Virginia (England) Snow.

For 37 years he worked for the American Red Cross, a job which took him overseas to Korea and Japan, and to many locations across the United States.

He enjoyed spending his summers boating near Ipswich, Mass., where his family had a cottage.

An avid coin collector, he would often gave coin proofs as gifts. He also loved driving, and over the years, had driven through nearly every state in the U.S.

Friends and family will remember his incredible generosity and love of helping people.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Elizabeth Snow of Cambridge, Mass., and Carolyn "Lyndy" Moore and her husband Robert of Falmouth; and two grandchildren, Andrew and William Pochepan of Falmouth, who loved their "Poppy" very much.

Arrangements are by Costello Funeral Home in Winchester, Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to The American Legion Post 164, 65 Depot Road, Falmouth, ME 04105.
