Frederick E. Morse, 72
FREEPORT — Frederick E. “Chum” Morse, 72, died Dec. 29 at his home.
Born in Freeport on Feb. 28, 1937, he was the eldest of three children of Gertrude “Annie” (Williams) and Earle Morse.
In 1955 he graduated from Freeport High School, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy the following year.
After serving in the Navy, he returned to Freeport and worked at Freeport Shoe.
While working at Freeport Shoe, he met Alice “Allie” Lewis and married her on Dec. 17, 1960.
For 32 years he worked for Central Maine Power at the Wyman Station in Yarmouth until he retired.
He looked forward to spending time at Lake Moxie with his children and grandchildren and visiting with his sister Judy when he and his wife would spend the winter at their second home in Florida.
He helped his children and friends build their homes and enjoyed doing the electrical and plumbing work.
For many years he was a member of the Durham AmVets, the Freeport Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Allie; two daughters, Jannette Morse of Oxford, and Darlene Routhier and her husband Rodney of Freeport; son Doug Morse and his wife Christine of Freeport; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother Richard Morse of Freeport; his sister Judy Morse of North Fort Myers, Fla.; three aunts and one uncle; many cousins; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
