Arthur G. Lovejoy, IV, 50: Shared passion for outdoors with family
DURHAM — Arthur “Artie” G. Lovejoy, IV, 50, died unexpectedly in Portland July 7.
Born in Portland July 30, 1959, he was a son of Arthur G. Lovejoy, III, and E. Jean Hastings and attended Yarmouth schools.
After graduating from Yarmouth High School in 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.
For many years he worked as a commercial fisherman in Portland and Gloucester, Mass. He also spent time digging for clams and trapping lobster throughout Casco Bay.
A fan of the Red Sox, Bruins and NASCAR, he also loved spending time with family at his grandparent's camp on Lake Winnipesaukee.
He shared his passion for the water and outdoors with his nephew Kyle, and taught him how to fish for trout along the Royal River.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are his brother, Greg Lovejoy of Durham; nephew Kyle Lovejoy and niece Erin Lovejoy, both of Durham; three cousins and their families, Peter Lovejoy of Derry, N.H., Paul Lovejoy of Waltham, Mass., and Ilona (Lovejoy) Dolaher of Wakefield, N.H.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, July 18 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
