Born May 5, 1934, and raised in Scarsdale, N.Y., she was a daughter of Paul and Anna Franke.

After graduating from high school in 1952, she attended Smith College, graduating in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in English literature.

A lifelong member of the Episcopal church, she most recently worshipped at St. Mary’s of Falmouth.

In her free time she loved to cook, sew and listen to classical music. She had a passion for books, the arts, animals, politics and everything British.

She cherished celebrating holidays and special occasions with family and friends, and was a devoted "Grandy" to her grandchildren.
