Rev. Craig E. Eder, 90

WASHINGTON, DC — Reverend Craig Eduard Eder, 90, of Washington, DC, and Falmouth, died Nov. 22 of congestive heart failure.

He was born in 1919 in Pennsylvania, the son of the Rev. Charles and Wilhelmina Eder.

After graduating from Harvard University and the Virginia Theological Seminary, he was ordained as a minister in the Episcopal Church in 1945.

From 1953 to 1973 he served as a chaplain at the St. Albans School for Boys in Washington, DC.

In 1975 he became affiliated with St. Columba's Church, where he remained in various capacities until his death.

During the summers, he was a long-time member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Yarmouth, where he made many close friends.

He will be remembered for his gentle manner, good humor, and love of travel.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Brown Eder; his sister Shirley and her husband, the Rev. Joseph Laird of Pennsylvania; three stepchildren, Edie Gilliss Faile of Connecticut, William Gilliss of Kentucky, and John Gilliss of Portland; loving in-laws; nieces and nephews; grandchildren; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; friends, colleagues, parishioners, and former students.
