Ralph H. Clark, 75

FREEPORT — Ralph Herbert Clark, 75, died Jan. 9 with his wife by his side after a long illness.

Born in Brunswick on March 18, 1935, he was the youngest son of Preston and Nancy Wilson Clark and was educated in Boothbay Harbor schools.

For six years he served in the U.S. Army Reserves at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

On Oct. 6, 1962, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth J. Coomb, and made their home in Freeport where they raised two children. He was dearly loved by his wife and children.

For 38 years he was employed at L.L. Bean until he retired in 1996.

A man of faith, he was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Freeport where he served as a deacon and head usher for many years.

He enjoyed woodworking and helping people with various building projects. He also enjoyed gardening, boats and being by the ocean.

Over the years he and his wife enjoyed taking trips to Europe and visiting their youngest daughter in Senegal, West Africa, where she has been serving with the New Tribes Mission.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, Gordon and Carlton.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Betty; his daughter Ruth Zetek and her husband Darren of Marshfield, Wis., and his daughter, Lois Clark, of Senegal, West Africa; a step-niece, Nancy Wescott and her husband, John, of Hollis; and several cousins.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, Jan. 16.

Memorial donations may be sent to New Tribes Mission, 1000 E. First St., Sanford, FL 32771-1487, designated for the work in Senegal, West Africa.
