Letter: Library thanks artists, businesses

The Falmouth Memorial Library's third annual month-long Beauty and the Books silent auction raised more than $7,800 for the community's book collection and special programs this year.

Sixty-five area artists, crafters, designers and photographers with ages spanning seven decades donated more than 130 works. Student crafts and a community knitting group's afghan were two of the new additions in this year's vibrant selection of wall art in various media, fabric art from bowls to coats to rugs, jewelry, ceramics, quilts, handbags, accessories, pottery, woolens and much more.

Falmouth Sea Grill, Foreside Tavern and Johnny's Bistro joined returning Black Cherry Provisions, European Bakery, Leavitt & Sons and Starbucks in preparing delicious food and beverages for the Grand Finale. Graham Wood of Portland designed the auction's invitation.

The library thanks each and every one who participated for their exquisite contributions, their time, talent, and auction bidding spirit, and to all in town who give such strong community support.
