Gratitude and giving
Recently I spent the morning with one of your reporters, Amy Anderson, discussing the book I have created to honor my late Bowdoin College classmate, Hanley Denning. The night before, my family had experienced a prolonged power outage due to a severe rainstorm. I was feeling a bit out of sorts, but a wonderful conversation with Amy helped me get beyond the temporary loss of electricity. We instead focused something more pressing: the importance of staying connected with others.
I have grown very familiar with the importance of human connections while creating my book, "Our Daily Tread: Thoughts for an Inspired Life." This book was a collaborative effort from the beginning, from gathering daily quotes to planning the celebration launch event. People consistently shared whatever talents they had to make it a reality.
I am grateful to Amy Anderson, and to everyone who has been involved with "Our Daily Tread." I hope people will continue to support it, and its key messages of living joyfully, living deliberately, and sharing what we have – and who we are – with others.
