Sheep take center stage in Falmouth
FALMOUTH — Anyone interested in seeing a sheep sheared is in luck — the Falmouth Historical Society's annual Maine Heritage Day on Saturday, Sept. 11, is focusing on sheep shearing techniques from the 19th century.
The event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Falmouth Heritage Museum on Woods Road, aims to give visitors a glimpse into what life was like in Falmouth more than 100 years ago.
It will also feature textile production demonstrations, including wool spinning, carding and knitting. For the kids, the Historical Society will have doll-making and stilt-making projects.
Members of the Historical Society will offer tours through the museum as part of the celebration. The museum will also be open the following Saturday, Sept. 18, for the last tours of the season, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
