Nazia Shir of Cape Elizabeth receives her certificate of U.S. citizenship Tuesday from Rodolfo Lara, director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service's Portland office, in a naturalization ceremony at Falmouth Middle School. About 50 people from different countries became U.S. citizens during the event, part of the fifth grade's unit on immigration. The ceremony included the fourth- through sixth-grade small group chorus and speakers Dorothy Michaud of the immigration service, Principal Sue Palfrey, Superintendent of Schools George Entwistle and Bill Green of WCSH.
