Constance E. Nagle, 56: Dedicated nurse who inspired others
BRUNSWICK — Constance Eaton "Connie" Nagle, 56, died Nov. 3 surrounded by her loving family at Maine Medical Center of complications from a bicycle accident.
A graduate of Hamburg Central Schools in New York, she earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., a bachelor's of science from the Cornell School of Nursing in New York City, and her advanced practice nursing degree in women's health at the University of Pennsylvania.
She worked as a women's health nurse practitioner in Portland and was deeply committed to the health of her patients.
Her numerous interests included sailing trips with close friends, visits to Vinalhaven Island, hiking, kayaking, reading, music, singing, and traveling abroad with her family.
She was devoted to her family and numerous pets, passionate about local and world affairs, and inspired others with her boundless energy. Her sense of humor, combined with her natural warmth, endeared her to all. She brought light, love, and happiness wherever she went.
She was predeceased by her father, David H. Eaton.
Surviving are her loving husband of 33 years, Jeff Nagle of Brunswick; her son Eric Nagle of Harpswell, and her daughter Hannah Nagle of Portland; her mother, Jean Warner Eaton of Oberlin, Ohio; her four sisters, Margaret Biscombe and Robert of North Bay, N.Y., Elizabeth Eaton of North Easton, Mass., Nancy Tucker and Ralph of Brunswick, Anne Eaton of Lincoln, Mass., and her brother David Eaton and Robyn of Warwick, N.Y.; and 20 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in Studzinski Hall at Bowdoin College. A reception will follow in Lancaster Lounge in Moulton Union at Bowdoin College.
