Deborah E. Lundblad, 83
TOPSHAM — Deborah Ellen Cobb Lundblad, 83, died Aug. 19 at her Highlands residence.
Born at the family home in Newbury, Vt., on Feb. 6, 1926, she was a daughter of Richard B. and Lisle Cobb.
After graduating as valedictorian at Newbury High School in 1944, she earned a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Vermont in 1948.
In June, 1950, she married Frank Lundblad in Newbury, Vt.
Over the years, she was employed as a vocal music teacher in New York, an organist and choir director in Cambridge, Mass., and a music teacher in South Carolina.
After working as a high school guidance counselor from 1971-1976, she earned her master's degree in guidance from Framingham State Teachers College in Massachusetts in 1976.
Throughout her adult life, she sang with numerous chorus and choir groups, including the Handel & Haydn Society, the Accapella Singers, the Lexington Choral Society, Furman University Community Chorus, the Brussels Community Chorus in Belgium, The Choral Arts Society, the Oratorio Chorale of Brunswick and various church choirs.
After moving to Brunswick in 1980, she remained active, volunteering with the Bath-Brunswick Regional Hospice, and serving as the coordinator there from 1981-1984.
She is survived by her husband Frank of Brunswick; three children, Shirsten Lundblad of Brunswick, Faith Gurnett of Saco and Eric Lundblad of Ashland, Mass.; a sister, Emmy Lea of Bradford, Vt., a brother, Richard Cobb of Keene, N.H.; two grandchildren, Jessica Day of Seattle, and Jacob Day of Durham, N.H.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
