Joseph C. Dumont, Jr., 92
BRUNSWICK — Joseph C. Dumont, Jr., 92, died at home Sept. 6 after a brief illness.
Born in Trois Pistole, Quebec, Canada, Jan. 21, 1918, he was a son of Joseph and Appoline (Parent) Dumont.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and later worked at the Goodall-Sanford Mills for over 20 years.
In 1957 he moved his family to Brunswick where he worked for Healthtex until he retired in 1982.
He was an active member of the 1918 Club, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and volunteered at the Soup Kitchen for many years.
He was predeceased by 16 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Yvette (Mailhot) Dumont; his five children, Ronald and his wife Gloria of Brunswick, Pauline (Lauer) and her husband Kenneth of Delaware, Rachel (Beaupre) and her husband Richard, Philip and his wife Corinne, Michael and his wife Darby Babson, all of Brunswick; a brother, Conrad, and three sisters, Jeannette (Gerard), Simone (Fortier) and Lillian (Couture); 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at St. John the Baptist Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick.
Burial with military honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
