Bath library names new director
BATH — Lesley Dolinger has been named director of Patten Free Library, the library board of trustees announced last week.
Her appointment ends a four-month national search. During that time Peter Goodwin served as interim director, filling a vacancy left by former Director Anne Phillips, who resigned this summer.
"We are very pleased to have attracted such a well-qualified and experienced candidate to lead the Patten Free Library," board President David Miller said. "Lesley brings extensive experience in a county-wide library system and demonstrated to us that she will be a strong public advocate for PFL in an era when all public services face budgetary constraints. She also served on a series of library committees that gave her valuable policy experience. Her enthusiasm for libraries and patrons is infectious."
Dolinger will start work on Nov. 16.
She holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University, and spent 15 years with the Saint Tammany Parish Library System in Louisiana, where she rose from reference librarian to reference coordinator, branch manager and collection development librarian.
Calling her new post "a wonderful opportunity," Dolinger said, "I am excited to be joining the Patten Free Library team and to serve the vibrant and historic communities of Arrowsic, Bath, Georgetown, Phippsburg, West Bath and Woolwich. I look forward to working with the devoted, hard-working staff, the Board and the Corporators, the Friends of the Library, library patrons and the community at large."
