Habitat for Humanity offers home-repair loans

BATH — Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers Maine is offering a year-round repair program for low-income homeowners who live in Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties, as well as Brunswick and Harpswell.

The program offers qualified homeowners a low-interest loan to make home improvements that improve health, safety and energy efficiency – things like leaking roofs, unsafe porches and steps, and handicapped accessible ramps. Habitat will also provide energy efficiency improvements such as insulation and sealing air-leaks to reduce home-energy costs.

Low interest loans of up to $5,000 to be repaid over five to 10 years are available to homeowners who earn between 25 and 60 percent of the average income for their county (about $14,500 to $35,000 for a family of four). Those interested in working with Habitat on a home repair please can Ryan at 386-5081 or ryan@habitat7rivers.org to schedule a pre-screening.
