FALMOUTH — Construction inside Falmouth Middle School has been completed on time.

Dan O’Shea, School Department director of finance and operations, said new science rooms have been upgraded and “are now appropriately sized to be more conducive to effective classroom management and curriculum delivery.” He also said the music and chorale rooms have been improved, and new tile had been put in the seventh and eighth grade wings.

Construction in the school was completed on Aug. 27. At a School Board meeting on Aug. 19, O’Shea had said the construction was “probably running a week behind.”

In an email, O’Shea said this was still within the contractual time obligations to complete the job, just that contractors had been hoping to be done a bit sooner.

The other bit of construction at the middle school was a stadium field restroom project, which was under a separate contract. O’Shea said the exterior of the building is mostly done, and would likely conclude this week.

He said workers should be moving to complete plumbing and fixtures, and to finish work inside the building at the end of this week or next week.

At the Aug. 19 School Board meeting, O’Shea had said they were aiming for a Sept. 1 completion date for this project, but probably weren’t going to hit it.
