FALMOUTH — A worker at the Falmouth Elementary School construction site fell two stories on July 9 while working on the roof of the new building.

Police said Peter Stanczak, 40, of Manchester, N.H., an employee of Rose Steel Erectors, reportedly backed up too far and fell from the second story of the building.

“He was putting the roof up and started backing up,” Police Department Lt. John Kilbride said. “He backed right off the roof, fell about 20 or 25 feet to cement on the second floor.”

Kilbride said Stanczak then rolled and fell another 12 feet to the first floor of the building.

Falmouth EMS responded and transported Stanczak to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was treated for his injuries.

The Falmouth Elementary School construction project began this spring and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2011.
