YARMOUTH — Concetta “Connie” M. Davies, 87, died April 20 at Bay Square in Yarmouth.

Davies was born Dec. 22, 1927, and raised in Plainville, Connecticut, the daughter of Pietro and Viola (Iannini) Mattioli.

She graduated from Simmons College in 1948, and then served as a social worker for the state of Connecticut.

In 1952, she married Richard I. Davies, a civil engineer from Meriden, Connecticut. Together they lived in South America and then throughout the Northeast before moving to Brunswick. There, Concetta worked as a homemaker and a community volunteer.

Along with her husband and family, she enjoyed sailing the coast of Maine, and traveling throughout the United States. In her later years she retired to Yarmouth, where she was active in the community, and treasured time with her family.

Davies was predeceased by her husband and by three brothers, Alto, Louis and Marino Mattioli.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Weinbaum, of Springfield, New Jersey, Leslie’s husband Alan and their children, Aaron, Samantha and Allison; and by her son, Clinton Davies, of Yarmouth, his wife Colette and their children, Jocelyn and Jeanelle.

The family wishes to thank the Bay Square staff and the Yarmouth community for the care and compassion extended to Davies.

A funeral was held April 27 at Lindquist Funeral Home, in Yarmouth. A private interment was planned at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Brunswick.
