Cheverus named Sally Cloutier Thursday as the third coach in the history of its field hockey program. Cloutier, who played at South Portland High School and Boston University and is a member of the Maine Field Hockey Hall of Fame, replaces Amy Ashley, who took the Yarmouth varsity position after winning 97 games and one regional title in her eight seasons (Ashley was preceded by Patsy Fowler).
“We’re excited to welcome Sally into the Cheverus community as the field hockey coach,” said Cheverus athletic director Gary Hoyt. “She brings terrific energy and enthusiasm, as well as significant high school and collegiate playing experience to our program. She is a proven leader.
“Our student-athletes and the extended Stags community are appreciative of the many varied contributions of our departing coach, Amy Ashley.”
