PORTLAND — The public is invited to spruce up and party down at Longfellow Park on Friday and Saturday during the annual park cleaning and neighborhood block party.

With help from Phi Mu Delta fraternity at the University of Southern Maine and New Sorority Interest Group, the University Neighborhood Organization will clean up the park, which sits between Oakdale, Noyes and Longfellow streets, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and rakes.

On Saturday, the free block party runs from noon-3 p.m. Included in the fun are jazz musicians from USM, a bicycle parade led by a Portland police cruiser, relay races, face painting and the Portland Public Library Bookmobile.
