TOPSHAM — Cindy Jane O’Connor, 57, died Sept. 13 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick.

She was born April 19, 1957, in Bath, to Edward H. Gray and Beverly J. Gray. She graduated from Morse High School, and earned an associate’s degree in behavioral health from the University of Maine in Augusta.

O’Connor loved her work with developmentally disabled men and woman. In the late 1980s, she helped open one of the first women’s group homes, in Richmond. She worked at her profession for over a decade.

O’Connor faced many obstacles in her life, but took great enjoyment from the time she spent with her family. She also enjoyed being a cheerleading coach, attending her daughter’s basketball games and going to the beach, especially Popham Beach.

O’Connor was predeceased by her mother and father.

She is survived by her two daughters, Christa Gallagher, of Brunswick, and Missy Leeman and fiance, Cong Van Nguyen, of South Casco; two sisters, Vicki Harrington and husband, Frank, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Sharon-Holly Thibodeau and husband, Allen, of Woolwich; four grandchildren, Alisha, Cole, Thomas and Anajewels; many nephews and nieces; and her companion, Dan Valliancourt, his daughter, Leanae and her son, Brice.

A graveside service was held Sept. 19 at Morningside Cemetery, in Phippsburg.
