FIVE ISLANDS — Christania Stevens, 95, holder of Georgetown’s Boston Post Cane, died June 20 at Winship Green Nursing Center.

Born July 8, 1914, she was a daughter of Charles H. and Ida M. Davis Pinkham of Five Islands and attended local schools.

In 1933 she married Franz B. Stevens and had four children together.

She loved being a homemaker while her children were young and later worked for several years at Congress Sportswear in Bath.

She was an active member of the Second Baptist Church, as well as the Five Islands Grange, The Good Neighbor Club, Bath Area Senior Citizens, and The Coasters.

She was predeceased by her husband Franz in 1957; and by four brothers, Kenneth, Victor, Lloyd and Charles Pinkham, and a sister, Alice MacGillivary.

Survivors include three sons, David F. Stevens of Five Islands, Cyril J. Stevens and his wife Janice of Bath, Peter H. Stevens and his wife Margaret of Five Islands, and a daughter, Christina Elaine Hersom and her husband Gerald of Five Islands; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23 at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24 at Five Islands Baptist Church in Georgetown.
