Cheverus senior track standout Nick White, flanked by his parents, Jim (Cheverus Class of 1979) and Theresa, and joined by athletic director Gary Hoyt and many of White’s teammates, signs his National Letter of Intent Thursday afternoon to attend and throw at the University of Rhode Island. White, the reigning Class A champion in the discus, said that ultimately, he had to decide between two schools.
“I was recruited by a lot of schools and I got my choices down to URI and (the University of Maine) and when I went on my official visit, I fell in love with the school,” said White, who plans to study kiniesology. “Their program is really strong and I’m just looking forward to going down and adding to their program.”
White said that his time at Cheverus helped him fulfill his dream of competing at the next level.
“It’s built up my confidence and helped me develop and I thank the Cheverus program,” said White.
