Falmouth senior Mike Chase was named one of four finalists for the Travis Roy Award, given annually to the most outstanding senior in Class A hockey.
Chase, a forward, had 21 goals and 23 assists this season and became the Yachtsmen’s all-time leading scorer with 194 points.
A second-year captain, Chase is the first three-time, first-team all-state selection since 2002. Chase has been selected to the Northern New England Chicago Showcase team in 2008 and 2009. He is an honor roll member, receiving awards for academic excellence in multiple subjects. Chase is also a volunteer with the Big Buddy program in Falmouth and with local youth and middle school hockey teams. Chase plans to play junior hockey next year.
Chase was joined as a finalist by defenseman Shawn Lee of state champion Waterville, defenseman Richard Paradis of state runner-up St. Dom’s and forward Dylan Fitzpatrick of Brewer.
The winner will be announced Sunday at the Class A Hockey State Banquet at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston, beginning at 12 p.m. All-State teams, as well Coach of the Year and sportsmanship awards will be bestowed.
