BRUNSWICK — Charles D. Berry, 81, of Noble Street, died May 31 at Freeport Nursing Home.

Berry was born May 23, 1934, in Skowhegan, the son of Charles D. Berry Sr. and Dorothy Otis Berry. He attended Topsham schools. He married Louise L. Columbe in Brunswick on Feb. 27, 1954.

Berry pursued a career in construction with Andrew Maynard, Arthur Trusiani and Dallas Staples, and also was employed by Bisson Moving.

In his early years, Berry enjoyed building and racing stock cars. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A brother, Thomas Berry, died in 1974.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Brunswick; three daughters, Charlotte Berry, of Topsham, Jean Berry, of Brunswick, and June Berry-Johnson, of Richmond; a son, Francis Berry, of Brunswick, and his companion, June Casler; a sister, Catherine Field, of Cushing; two nieces, Cheryl Berry Lang and Deb Berry Safford; two nephews, Ricky Field and Frank Field; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held June 5 at Brackett Funeral Home, in Brunswick. Interment followed at Growstown Cemetery.
