BRUNSWICK — The Pejepscot Historical Society and U.S. Postal Service will hold a special stamp cancellation at the Joshua Chamberlain Museum July 2.

Post office representatives will be on hand from 3-5 p.m. to sell Medal of Honor stamps and offer the one-day-only Chamberlain pictorial cancellation.

The cancellation, designed by the historical society and approved by the post office, celebrates Chamberlain’s service in the Civil War and the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, where Chamberlain earned his Medal of Honor, which is on display at the museum.

The historical society will have special-edition Chamberlain envelopes available for sale at the event. The museum will stay open for an extra hour, and run tours from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Performers from Maine State Music Theater’s production of “Chamberlain: A Civil War Musical” will be singing standards, and guests showing ticket stubs from the MSMT will receive 50 percent off museum admission on July 2.
