BRUNSWICK — Cecile M. Rector, 92, died April 21, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 30, 1922, a daughter of Zephirin and Marie Levesque Lapierre. She attended school in Lewiston and Brunswick.

She met the love of her life, Otto V. Rector, in 1945 and was married that year. She worked at Cabot Mill, Verney Mill, Auerbach Shoe, Miller Shoe, Health Tex and Fancy Stitcher.

Her hobbies were knitting, puzzle making, enjoying dinner out at local restaurants and traveling.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1991; son, Dennis, in 1950; brothers, Laurier, Henry, Lewis, Ernest and Zephirin Jr.; and sisters, Rose, Madelyn and Lucienne.

She is survived by two sons, Robert V. Rector and wife, Shirley, and Richard M. Rector and wife, Diane; two grandsons, Eric Rector, of Topsham, and Shane Rector, of Bowdoinham; two great-grandsons, Damon Rector and Dominick Litchfield, both of Topsham; and two sisters, Theresa Pelletier and Rita Bolduc, both of Brunswick.

The Rector family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. John Johnstone, Dr. Monica Luccarelli, Dr. Keating, the Brunswick Fire Department, Northeast Ambulance, emergency staff at Mid Coast Hospital, Dr. Kilby, Dr. MacGillivary, the nursing staff of the 500 unit at Maine Medical Center and the wonderful staff at Winship Green Nursing Home.

A memorial service was held April 28 at Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086, in Cecile M. Rector’s name would be greatly appreciated by her family.
