TOPSHAM — Catherine A. Bull, 60, of Merganser Lane, died Oct. 20 at her home.

She was born in Springfield, Vermont, on April 12, 1954, the daughter of Alwyn Gale and Margaret Richardson Gale.

She was a graduate of Longmeadow High School in Massachusetts. Bull served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electrician, where she met her husband to be, Walter L. Bull. They were married in Folkston, Georgia on July 30, 1981, and lived in Jacksonville, Florida, and Sigonella, Sicily before moving to Topsham in 1991.

She was an accomplished softball player into her late 40’s and enjoyed all types of outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking and snow shoeing. Bull was an active member of the Sage Square & Round Dance Club in Brunswick and was known throughout the New England square dance community for her selfless devotion to the activity, willingness to help anytime, anywhere and in whatever manner was required.

Her devotion to the needs of others led to a CNA certification later in life and employment at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center and private duty to many area residents as a self-employed home health care provider.

She is survived by her husband, of Topsham; a son, Daniel P. Bull, of Topsham; a daughter, Jessica L. Bull, of Kennebunk; two brothers, Rick Gale of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Philip Gale, of Vershire, Vermont; and a sister, Marcia Penley of Marshfield, Vermont.

A service to remember and to celebrate her life was held Monday at Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
