PORTLAND — Casco Bay Lines has been awarded a $2.56 million federal grant for continued work on its ferry terminal improvement project.
Casco Bay Lines operates a ferry service that connects the islands of Casco Bay with each other and the mainland. The ferries also offer freight, passenger and postal service.
Construction began in September 2013 on the first phase of the Portland waterfront terminal project, which includes expansion of the terminal’s waiting area and installation of windows so passengers can better see ferries approaching, according to releases from Maine’s congressional delegation.
The award is from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Discretionary Program.
