PORTLAND — Casco Bay Lines announced this morning it has hired a new general manager.

Henry ‘Hank’ Berg will take over management of the ferry service, which provides transportation to Peaks, Cliff, Great Diamond, Little Diamond, Long and Chebeague islands.

Berg for the past 9 years has been chief operations officer and president of the Waldoboro-based Taction, a company that provides telesales services for businesses. He has an MBA from Boston University.

Members of a Casco Bay Lines general manager search committee began looking in August for a new manager to replace Catherine Debo, who resigned in June. The search committee received more than 130 applications for the position, according to committee chairman Matt Hoffner. Hoffner is also on the board of directors for the Casco Bay Island Transit District.
