The Casco Bay U-14 girls’ hockey team won the Tier II regional championship and punched its ticket to Nationals with a dramatic 3-2 double overtime victory over Midfairfield, Connecticut Sunday in Concord, New Hampshire. Celia Begonia had the winning tally in the second “sudden death” OT. Emily Demers had the assist. The national tournament will be held March 31-April 4 in Burlington, Vermont.

The team includes Portland’s Emily Demers and Emma Merrill, South Portland’s Zoe Mazur, Emma McCauley and Hannah Twombly, Yarmouth’s Caroline Grant, Boothbay’s Natalie Farrell, Gorham’s Celia Begonia, Gray’s Abby Matusovich and Hannah Woodford, Kennebunk’s Molly Davis and Abby Lamontagne, Lewiston’s Brie Dube, Caroline Gepfert and Camree St. Hillaire, Josie Varney of Oakland and Raymond’s Leah Keeney. The squad was coached by Scott Matusovich, who was assisted by Bob Davis, Heidi Gepfert, Michael Grant, David Merrill and Craig Twombly.
