FALMOUTH — Virginia “Ginny” Carr, died Jan. 17 after a short illness at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born Oct. 23, 1923 in Marietta, Ga. After growing up in the South, she later moved to Maine and taught art in the Deer Isle/Stonington public schools during the 1980’s.
She found her home in Maine, embracing the cold winters, making soup, listening to public radio and celebrating her favorite holiday, winter solstice.
A lifelong adventurer, she traveled to Peru and Russia, and lived in various towns throughout Maine and Florida before moving to Falmouth three years ago.
She is survived by her daughters, Georgia Booth of Kitty Hawk, N.C. and Melissa Roberts of Nokomis, Fla.; and numerous good friends throughout the country.
At her request, there will be no memorial services held.

Arrangements are by Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
