BRUNSWICK — Carolyn A. Drake, 81, of Brunswick, died April 25 at Mid Coast Hospital.

She was born Feb. 8, 1934, in St. Francis, the ninth child of Stanley E. and Eunice H. Drake. She grew up in Fort Kent, and later moved to Bath and then Falmouth, where she spent most of her life. In 2008, she moved to Brunswick to be closer to her children.

Drake enjoyed a good story and a good laugh, and loved dining on lobster stew or a lobster roll. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, and remembering the past with her siblings.

Drake was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Gordon and Elwin; six sisters, Lucille, Katherine, Louise, Lona, Virginia and Freda; and her lifelong companion, Clarence V. Blake.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen D. Watson, and husband, David, of Phippsburg; and a son, Stanley E. King, and wife, Kathy, of Arrowsic; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer and Alex Watson, and Amy, Craig and Karl King; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by six sisters, Dot, Helen, Joyce, Nellie, Florence and Leila; and five brothers, Donald, Richard, Floyd, Raymond and Lawrence.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dionne Commons for the excellent care Drake received while a resident there, and to the staff at Mid Coast Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Coastal Humane Society, 39 Range Road, Brunswick, ME 04011.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, at 1 p.m., at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath, with the Rev. Dan Coffin officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath.
