TOPSHAM — Caroline “Kay” Wilson, 82, died July 31 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick.

She was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Topsham, the daughter of Howard and Alice Eastman Adams.

Wilson graduated from Morse High School in 1949. In high school, Kay played in many sports, was a member of the National Honor Society, won the Outstanding Woman Athletic Award, and was a member of the French Club.

Wilson graduated from Gorham State Teachers College and later earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Southern Maine. In college, she was a four-year member of the Student Council, a class officer, vice president of the Student Christian Association, a member of the skiing and outing clubs, and a four-year member of the girls’ basketball and softball teams.

On Dec. 13, 1952, she married Alvin Wilson, the love of her life for 62 years.

Wilson was a school teacher for 26 years, including two years in Westbrook and 24 years in Topsham.

She was a member and founder of the Topsham Jaycee Wives, a 60-year member of the Topsham Grange, a member of the State Grange, a member of the United Baptist Church, a 20-year member of the Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She also was a member of the Maine Association of Retirees, the Maine Teachers Association, and the National Education Association, as well as an officer of the SAD 75 Teachers Association, where she worked on many committees.

Wilson and her husband wintered in Cocoa Beach, Fla., for many years and summered at their cottage on Orr’s Island.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin, of Topsham; daughter Judith Ellis and her partner Kevin Main, of Topsham; grandchildren Jessica and Jonathan Ellis; great-grandchild Jaylen Myers; an aunt and several cousins.

She is predeceased by her parents, her stepfather Alfred Rackley, and her brother Carl Adams.

At her request there will be no services. A private burial will be held in Rogers Cemetery, in Topsham, at a later date.
