PORTLAND — Ralph Carmona, who recently took out nomination papers to run for the City Council in the Nov. 5 election, Monday said he will not seek the at-large council seat and instead plans to run for the School Board.

Carmona, a North Street resident who ran for mayor in 2011, said he intends to pursue one of the two at-large vacancies being created by Board Chairman Jaimey Caron and Kate Snyder, whose terms expire this year. Neither is seeking re-election.

“I’ve weighed the options, and considered how I think I can best serve the city,” Carmona said.
