CAPE ELIZABETH — Residents on Tuesday voted 705-278 to approve a $23.2 million school budget, according to unofficial results.
The school budget, which was adopted by the Town Council on May 12, marks a 3 percent increase over the current fiscal year.
In a non-binding question, 517 voters said they found the school budget to be acceptable, 349 said it was too high, and 95 said it was too low.
The town’s combined municipal and school budget of $34.2 million marks an increase of 3.2 percent, raising the mil rate to $16.70 per $1,000 of assessed value.
