CAPE ELIZABETH — Resident Ellie Baker, a graduate of the University of Maine and University of Maine School of Law, will lead the search committee for the next president of the UMaine System.

Earlier this year, UMaine President Robert Kennedy announced his intention to step down from the position in June 2011. Baker, a UMaine trustee, will lead the committee made up of graduates, students, faculty, staff, trustees, a community member and a member of the UMaine board of visitors.

The committee will begin its national search at the end of this summer and provide recommendations to Chancellor Richard L. Plattenaude. A new leader is expected to be named before Kennedy leaves the position next year.
