CAPE ELIZABETH — Town officials have invited residents of the Leighton Farms and Cross Hill neighborhoods to a meeting Jan. 7 to discuss access to town-owned open space.
At a Town Council meeting held in November, councilors voted 7-0 to have resident Phillip O’Hearn remove part of a stone wall built next to town-owned open space near his house at 8 Leighton Farms Road. The council also voted that O’Hearn discontinue his maintenance of the Greenbelt trail head, allowing it to return to its natural condition.
Even though the council voted that the town would retain total control of the property, Town Manager Mike McGovern agreed to work with the neighborhood and the Conservation Commission to meet the needs of the town and of residents who want to use the open space.
The meeting will be held in the Town Hall, 320 Ocean House Road, at 7:30 p.m.
