CAPE ELIZABETH — Five Fire Department volunteers were recognized for their service and 12 anniversaries were celebrated at the department’s annual appreciation night at Purpoodock Club.

The Fire Department has five companies with 105 volunteers.

The top award, named for the late John J. Civile, was presented to John Norton, captain of the Cape Elizabeth Water Extrication Team and a volunteer since 1998.

Captain’s Award recipients were Adam Enman, Engine 1; Adam Salve, Engine 2; Paul Fischer, WETeam, and Tim Mitchell, Fire Police Unit.

The longest serving volunteer is Gerald W. Murray, who joined in 1959.

Dan Hannigan and Steve Young received 30-year service awards and Tim Cram, Jason Grant and Joe Mokry received 20-year awards. Michael Norton was honored for 15 years of service and Robert Kamilewicz and Jordan Toothaker for 10 years. Curtis Brown, Alex Caron, Holly Culver, Sean McCue and Carl Pearson were honored for five years of service.
