CAPE ELIZABETH — Government students at the high school will be hosting a gubernatorial debate Tuesday, April 3. 

Independent candidates for governor will appear in the debate, moderated by the students, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Participating candidates will include entrepreneur Alan Caron; John Jenkins, former mayor of Lewiston and Auburn; Maine State Treasurer Terry Hayes; retired accountant Kenneth Capron, and businessman Ethan Alcorn.

Two more debates featuring the Republican and Democratic candidates will take place at the high school later this spring; the Republicans on May 7 and the Democrats on a date to be announced.
