FALMOUTH — Cape Elizabeth High School students placed a close second to Class A champion Falmouth High School in the finals of the Maine Drama Festival last weekend.

The Class A competition was held at the Falmouth school, where the Capers lost 276-269, based on evaluations by three judges.

The performance of portions of “Find Me” by the Cape students earned individual and ensemble accolades as well.

Cast members Tara Pinette, Alexander Enna, Lauren Steidl, Peter Campbell and Griffin Carpenter were named to the All-Festival cast. The ensemble was also singled out for its outstanding performance with a Judge’s Commendation.

“Find Me,” written in 1977 by Olwen Wymark, is a drama about a young woman’s struggle with mental illness and its effects on her family.

Cape Elizabeth drama teacher and play director Richard Mullen called the drama “a powerful modern tragedy.” It was the second consecutive year portions of “Find Me” were presented at the drama festival by Cape Elizabeth students.

The Theatre Company at Falmouth High School will perform its selection of “This is Where I Came In” at the New England Drama Festival, April 26-28, at Gilford High School in Gilford, N.H.
