CAPE ELIZABETH — Police are looking for any information related to recent reports of vandalism at Gull Crest Fields.

The Public Works Department has documented three cases of vandalism on the fields that connect Cape Elizabeth High School on Ocean House Road to the public works garage and athletic fields and adjacent parking lot off Spurwink Avenue.

The most recent incident took place between 1 and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, when a driver spun their tires in a circular motion – popularly known as cutting cookies – and caused “extensive damage” to the turf, according to Public Works Director Robert Malley.

Incidents on Aug. 8 and 14 were similar, Police Chief Niel Williams said; someone drove onto the property with a car or truck and tore up the turf.

Anyone with information should contact the Cape Elizabeth Police Department at 767-3323.
