PORTLAND — A 44-year-old Cape Elizabeth woman who injured a police officer when when crashed into the back of two parked South Portland police cruisers last December was sentenced this week in Cumberland County Superior Court.
Lisa Cioe, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent – nearly three times the legal limit – when the crash occurred, was sentenced to three years in jail, with all but 90 days suspended, according to the Cumberland County district attorney’s office.
Cioe, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and operating under the influence, was also fined $2,000 and a faces a three-year license suspension.
After she is released from jail, Cioe will be placed on probation for two years. She will not be allowed to possess car keys, illegal drugs or alcohol; operate a motor vehicle and will have to submit to random searches.
South Portland Officer Seth Page was arresting another drunk driver on Dec. 12, 2009, when his cruiser was struck from behind by Cioe’s vehicle. He suffered head, neck and back injuries as a result of the collision and was out of work for six weeks.
