CAPE ELIZABETH — The Town Council will hold a public hearing and vote Monday, April 25, on the proposed $31 million budget for fiscal 2012.

The $8.9 million municipal budget has been characterized as a maintenance budget; the $21 million school budget adds no new services or programs and maintains current service levels.

The total $31 million budget will require a 2.4 percent increase in property taxes, raising the rate from $17.86 to $18.28 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The school budget validation referendum is expected to be scheduled for May 10.
